Sports Funding

At Mawdesley St Peter’s CE Primary School, we believe PE and Sport plays a really important role every child’s education, helping not only with their physical health and well-being, but also their mental and emotional health and well-being too. We have welcomed the Government’s announcement on 8th March 2023 confirming the commitment to extend the Primary PE and Sport Premium funding by over £600 million for an additional two years, to the end of the academic year 2024/25. This is such good news as it is designed to help children to get an active start in life, by supporting primary schools to improve the quality of their PE and sport provision so that pupils experience the benefits of regular exercise – from becoming healthier both mentally and physically to improved behaviour and better academic achievement. At MSP, we are committed to using this resource in developing high quality PE lessons, alongside greater opportunities for sporting competitions and clubs for all children.
