Class One 2023 - 2024

Miss White

Mrs McClean

 Class One consists of our children from Reception.

Hello everyone! Reception is the start of the school journey, where play forms the basis for all our learning. We have an exciting term ahead filled with lots of opportunities for developing creativity and curiosity. It is our aim to nurture the holistic development of all children so they are eager and happy learners.

In early years we choose topics that will act as a springboard for all our learning. Topics throughout the year will be communicated with parents via seesaw.

Early Years Foundation Stage- EYFS, is the provision for babies and children aged 0-5. The EYFS is about how children learn, as well as what they learn. Through the characteristics of effective learning, we will support children in these areas;

Playing and exploring – children investigate and experience things, and ‘have a go’

 Active learning – children concentrate and keep on trying if they encounter difficulties, and enjoy achievements

 Creating and thinking critically – children have and develop their own ideas, make links between ideas, and develop strategies for doing things

We also value the importance of outdoor learning and it’s benefits for child development. We engage in weekly forest school sessions, where children are learning and exploring a wide range of things from discovering fungi to den building.
